PauseCue Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 9, 2026
PauseCue, localized in Simplified Chinese as 方寸有度, is a local-first digital wellbeing tool that helps you add a short pause before selected apps, app categories, or websites open. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information and how the app uses Apple Screen Time and App Store services.
1. Information We Process
- Screen Time selection tokens for apps, app categories, or websites that you choose through Apple's Screen Time picker. These tokens are used to apply pauses and shields on this iPhone.
- Focus plan settings, active session status, strict mode settings, temporary unlock state, challenge progress, report statistics, language preference, and legal acceptance state.
- Local 7-day Pro trial state, used to decide whether Pro features are available during the trial period.
- Subscription, lifetime purchase, product information, and purchase restoration results returned by the official Apple App Store system, used to show available Pro products and unlock paid access.
2. Local Storage
PauseCue does not provide account login and does not operate its own server to store your personal private information. Your Screen Time selections, focus plans, session state, unlock state, progress reports, challenge progress, and language settings are stored locally on your device by default.
Uninstalling the app usually removes local app data. Some purchase records are maintained by Apple so that subscriptions or non-consumable purchases can be restored according to App Store rules.
3. Network Access
PauseCue is designed to work locally for Screen Time selection, focus sessions, shields, progress reports, and challenge state. The app does not upload your selected app list, Screen Time tokens, focus plans, or progress reports to our servers.
The app may use network access for Apple App Store services, including displaying Pro products, purchasing subscriptions or lifetime access, listening for transaction updates, and restoring purchases. These requests are handled through Apple's systems and use encrypted network connections.
When the network is unavailable, App Store product loading, purchases, or restore purchases may fail. Core local focus behavior may still depend on Apple Screen Time availability and the permissions you grant on your device.
4. Apple Screen Time and iOS Permissions
PauseCue uses Apple Screen Time-related frameworks, including Family Controls, Device Activity, Managed Settings, and Shield Configuration, to let you select items and show pause or shield screens for selected content.
The app asks for Screen Time authorization before applying pauses. If authorization is not granted, Screen Time-based pause features cannot work. You can manage or revoke related access in iOS Settings.
The current iOS version of PauseCue does not request camera, microphone, location, photo library, contacts, calendar, Bluetooth, or notification permissions. iOS network access does not display a separate permission prompt.
5. Purchases and Pro Access
PauseCue offers Free Basic, a local 7-day Pro trial for new users, and optional paid Pro access. The local trial does not auto-renew and does not automatically charge you.
Paid subscriptions and lifetime purchases are processed by Apple App Store. We do not receive your payment card number, bank details, Apple ID password, or full App Store account credentials. The app receives only the information needed to determine product availability and whether Pro access should be active.
You can manage subscriptions, cancellation, refunds, and purchase history through your Apple App Store account settings, according to Apple's policies.
6. Information We Do Not Collect
- We do not require account registration.
- We do not upload your selected app list, Screen Time tokens, focus plans, progress reports, or challenge records to our servers.
- We do not collect browsing history, messages, contacts, photos, location, microphone audio, camera images, or payment card information.
- We do not sell personal data.
- We do not use advertising SDKs or third-party analytics SDKs.
- We do not use PauseCue for remote parental monitoring or enterprise supervision.
7. Third-Party Services
- Apple Screen Time and related iOS frameworks: used to select content and apply local pauses or shields.
- Apple App Store: used for product information, purchases, subscription status, lifetime purchase status, transaction updates, and purchase restoration.
Third-party services may process information necessary to provide their own services according to their own policies. We recommend that you also review Apple's privacy policy, App Store terms, and Screen Time-related system documentation.
8. Data Security
We follow local-first and data minimization principles. PauseCue stores product data locally by default and only uses network access for explicit Apple App Store functions such as purchase, product loading, transaction updates, and purchase restoration.
No internet transmission or local device environment can be guaranteed to be absolutely secure. Please keep your device protected, use a device passcode, and avoid sharing your unlocked device with people you do not trust.
9. Your Controls
- You can stop active focus sessions and clear active pauses inside the app.
- You can change selected apps, categories, or websites through the app's Screen Time selection flow.
- You can reset local selections, plans, unlock state, and app data from Settings inside the app where available.
- You can revoke Screen Time authorization in iOS Settings.
- You can manage subscriptions and purchase history in your App Store account settings.
10. Children and Sensitive Scenarios
PauseCue is intended for personal self-management and general digital wellbeing. Minors should use it with guidance from a parent or guardian. The app is not a medical, psychological, legal, safety, emergency, or supervision service.
11. Policy Updates
We may update this Privacy Policy due to product changes, laws and regulations, App Store review requirements, or operational needs. The updated page will show a new update date. Material changes will be communicated through in-app notice or another reasonable method.
